What is SpringBoard?

DXC Technology believes the insurance industry is at the cusp of transformation, and at the heart of this transformation is applied innovation.

DXC recognises that this is happening in the startup community.

To complement DXC’s strength, we want to bring outside-in innovation, resulting in joint solutions that solve key business problems to insurers.

As such, DXC in collaboration with Stone & Chalk, has launched its SpringBoard competition.

Competition details

Participants can enter into one of two categories.

Category 1 - The Digital Insurance Ecosystem
A product or solution to plug into DXC’s Digital Insurance Platform. These products or solutions should look at addressing, but not limit themselves to, the example problem areas.

Problem Areas:
  • Conversion. Simplify, streamline, or increase the success rate of purchasing insurance online.
  • Distribution. Expand an insurer’s reach with innovative ways to distribute or bundle insurance.
  • Insight. Deliver actionable insight by analyzing insurance data.
Category 2 - Enriching the Insurance Experience
A standalone product or solution with the capability to address issues in the insurance. In the areas of, but not limited to, the following problem areas.

Problem Areas:
  • Prevention. Help prevent the losses that lead to insurance claims, thereby reducing the cost of insurance for everyone.
  • Remediation. Improve the remediation of claims, restoring the customer to a pre-claim state in a faster, more effective or more efficient way.
  • Engagement. Drive ongoing customer engagement outside the limited transactional touchpoints of buying or claiming against insurance.

The judging panel will select a winner from each category.
The winners of DXC SpringBoard are entitled to:
  • An invitation to globally partner with DXC, with opportunity to deploy the solution across regions, including access to DXC’s customers. *Fast Fact - DXC serves 85% of the Fortune 500 Insurance companies
  • Opportunity to present directly in front of hundreds of insurers at DXC’s Thrive on Change insurance industry conference on March 7th 2018.
  • And a cash prize of $4000

Who should apply?

We believe the competition to be better suited to late-stage startups or scaleups with an existing product/solution that is relevant to the insurance industry.
These products/solutions do not have to exclusively be tailor made for the insurance industry, but applicability is key.
We encourage participants who would see great benefit from leveraging DXC's experience in insurance, scalability and reach in the industry.
Ideally, participants should have a market ready product/solution with a demonstrable proof of concept or demonstration ready to go.

DXC Insurance Platform

Fundamental to DXC Technology’s strategy for insurance is commitment to lead the industry’s digital transformation.
Insurers are in a race against time, as their competitors and new market entrants are raising the bar quickly.
Digital transformation of insurance organisations requires a platform that is able to support them with the right systems and capabilities.
DXC’s Digital Insurance as a Service (DIaaS) platform provides:
  • An Omni-Channel experience, making data, applications and functionality consistently available across all customer touchpoints and channels
  • Flexibility and agility to allow insurers to focus on core insurance competencies, not the adaptation of legacy technology systems
  • An accelerated product development capability, supporting rapid product development, industrialised product rules and segmentation
  • A platform of platforms where partners can use the API framework to connect and interact to create and exchange value
  • All offered in an as-a-service model with consumption based pricing

What should I expect from taking part in SpringBoard?
Finalists will be chosen to attend two workshops and a pitch day based on their application. Successful applicants will be notified no later than the week of 29th of January 2018.
The workshops will take place the week starting 5th February and week starting 19th February 2018. Workshops will consist of technical, business and pitching components, hosted by mentors and coaches from DXC and Stone & Chalk, held in the Sydney CBD.
A final pitch and demo day will be held in the week starting 26th of February, with competition winners announced at the DXC Insurance Conference on the 7th of March 2018.

We have been working on our startup for a while, is the DXC SpringBoard competition appropriate for us?
Yes! We believe the competition to be better suited for either companies who can ‘plug’ their product into the DXC Digital Insurance Platform OR those with existing offerings for the Insurance industry that wish to leverage DXC’s global reach, insurance expertise and distribution capabilities.

Can we partake in the competition without being based in Sydney?
Yes indeed, DXC will not be funding any travel costs for the competition, but it would be advantageous if you could attend the two workshops. The pitching, demo and judging day is mandatory.

What’s the deadline for applications?
All applications need to be submitted by January 26th, 2018. Any submissions after that will not be considered.
